I thought I'd take a break from my illustration work today and upload my latest WIWT illustration! Its a rainy cold dark sort of day, which means I get to bring out my stompy boots and scarves - yay! I love love love fall weather and getting to wear layers. The doodle on the left is what I'm wearing today, and the doodle on the right is an outfit I wore on Saturday and really liked.

I almost added the blue wig in on the Saturday drawing, but eh! It looked kinda weird - not like me! Maybe I need to wear it more to convince myself ;)

Check out that side ponytail - I don't think I've rocked one of these since 3rd grade! Yikes! I need to touch up my hair tonight. Whatever though - Bunnies and Stars will keep things awesome!

I think I'm going to have some tea and go goof off for a moment before hopping back into my work. I should have lots to show you guys later on this week - and hopefully a Halloween illustration if I can get my other stuff finished up in time! eee! Hope you all are doing well!

Goodbye Geocities! + my website in 1997

If you haven't heard - Geocities is officially shutting down October 26th. This kinda saddens me, and somewhat closes the very first chapter of my internetting life. Geocities helped host some of my very first websites, and with out it I would probably not be where I am now. Many Geocities sites introduced to me to my now favorite interests (Comic books, Illustration/Animation, Costuming, etc...). Plus, it allowed people to meet others who shared similar interests - which was really neat for a nerdy illustrator gal to have growing up! I understand why its being shut down, and its good to move forward and learn new things... but I would like to take this moment to say

Goodbyeeeee Geocities! You were much loved <3

On that note - I scanned some old prints of one of my many early websites in 1997. Yes, I know its weird I printed out my website - but I was really proud of it at 14 and I wanted to show it to my friends who didn't have the internet. Gasp! Internet not being common - can you remember those days? ;)

This is kinda humorous to look back on. I was afraid to use my real name on the internet, so I pretended my name was Jillian Smith! sneaky sneaky. I was also super into Sailor Moon (if its not obvious already) - and oh noooo I'm using Comic Sans! Oh man. The little "who is your favorite scout" thing at the top was a POLL! I thought those were real cool, not sure why it doesn't show the blanks though. My "Jukebox" was links to MIDI files, which I was very proud of... I was also super proud of my ICQ "pager". Oh and check out that Unicorn visitor counter - how ridiculous is that thing?! I like how I included my signature at the bottom of the page to personalize it... its nice to see some things haven't changed about myself. :)

Well that's enough of my embarrassing show and tell!

Wigging out!

Happy Saturday! Do you like my new blue hair? :B

I just got all my old wigs out of storage for Halloween, and I'm having a lot of fun goofing off on camera with them. hehehe I think this long shaggy blue one will work good for my Ramona Flower's costume.

All these wigs are left over from when I used to cosplay a few years ago. I need to find a place to let them sit and air out... They smell kinda weird from being in storage :(!! Yuck! I think I need to have a wig party or something now - ya know, to put them to good use since I don't wear costumes as often.

Anyhow - Isn't this shade of blue pretty? I wish it was my real hair! I love the color and cut. Although, I'm pretty sure if I tried to get my hair to this pale teal blue it would be super fried. Eep! I'll be sticking with my black and pink for now... ;)

It has been a while since I did an "Ideas and Inspiration" post... I've been sorting through some of my favorite inspirational articles as of late for an upcoming goal-setting post... Little personal tips:

Smile at and/or compliment others, even better = people you don't know!(But with good judgment of course - ha!) I've had a lot of kindness shown to me lately from strangers, which makes me want to pass it on even more. I love when someone I don't know is friendly or smiles at me, it really lifts my day!

Go to bed on time. No really! The proper amount of sleep for your body can make a world of a difference on your outlook for the upcoming day. I know I always feel 10x more happy and positive if I'm well rested :)

Make large positive notes to yourself and place them all over your house and/or your office! I have one on my mirror that says "You are AMAZING!" that I see every morning, and "Every day is a new beginning" on my monitor at my office. Yes yes, its kinda dorky, but some days I really need to read stuff like that! Another good one: "What you believe = What is possible to manifest"

Things I love Thursday

I've kinda mushed thoughts from last week together with loved items for this week! So its a good little TILT list I think :)! I also whipped up the little doodled banner real quick since I'm adoring those things at the moment. (Check out the original sketch on paper towel... haha - I kinda love doodling on paper towels.)

Black knit ear hat from Shana logic. Ahhh - I really want a little knit hat with ears! Maybe I can try to make one...

Camille Rose Garcia vinyl figures Patches and Cherry Girl - I saw these in my local comic shop, Criminal Records, and I'm really wanting them! They are so spooky cute.

Scott Pilgrim! I can't wait to go borrow the rest of the books from Lillian :D That and I've been looking up info on the upcoming movie based on the books, and it looks like its going to be really good! Exciting!!

Sailor Moon Cosmic Heart Compact - Since I've gotten back into watching Sailor Moon season S, I've been wishing I still had my Sailor Moon collectibles - specifically the Cosmic Heart Compact! But its like $200 on ebay - so crazy! :| It was my favorite of her transformation compacts.
